Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") form a binding agreement between you and 恒林日本株式会社 (Eaglewood Japan Co., Ltd., "we", "us", "our") regarding the use of guoxue.app and its subdomains (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

The Service provides chart-generation tools for traditional Chinese metaphysics (BaZi, Liu Yao, Zi Wei Dou Shu, Mei Hua Yi Shu, Qi Men Dun Jia) along with AI-assisted interpretations powered by Claude. The Service includes a web application and optional paid subscriptions.

2. Nature of the Service & Disclaimers

The Service's content is provided for cultural study, learning, and entertainment purposes only. It is NOT professional advice and it does NOT replace any licensed professional. In particular, the Service does NOT constitute or substitute for professional advice in any of the following domains:

• Medical advice — including diagnosis, treatment, prescriptions, or interpretation of symptoms. If you have any health concern (including but not limited to physical symptoms, pregnancy, reproductive planning, or chronic-condition management), you must consult a licensed physician. The Service will not interpret "signs of illness" and provides no health predictions.
• Legal advice — including contracts, disputes, criminal matters, regulatory compliance, immigration, or tax matters. You must consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction.
• Financial and investment advice — including investment decisions, trading of securities or crypto, tax planning, retirement planning, or insurance selection. You must consult a licensed financial adviser, CPA, or investment adviser.
• Mental health — including depression, anxiety, trauma, crises, suicidal ideation, or self-harm. The Service is NOT a substitute for a licensed therapist, psychiatrist, or counselor. If you are in crisis, please contact your local crisis hotline immediately (see our Safety page). If your query or an AI output contains self-harm or suicide-related content, the Service will display a crisis-intervention banner and stop further generation.
• Career and occupational decisions — including hiring, firing, major career pivots, or founding a business. The Service offers cultural entertainment content and is NOT an HR consultant or career coach.
• Marital and relationship decisions — including whether to marry or divorce, custody, or family disputes. The Service is NOT a marriage counselor or family therapist.
• Reproduction and parenting — including whether or when to have children, prenatal medical decisions, or infant and child health. Please consult an OB/GYN, pediatrician, or other licensed professional.
• Educational decisions — including school choice, major selection, or academic planning. The Service is NOT an academic or guidance counselor.
• Addiction-related matters — including substance use, alcohol, gambling, and behavioral addictions. Please consult a licensed addiction specialist.
• Emergencies — fire, injury, domestic violence, crime, or any other emergency require calling local emergency services (US 911, Japan 110/119, China 110/119/120, Taiwan 110/119/112, UK 999, EU 112, etc.). Fortune-telling is not an appropriate response.
• Religion and spiritual guidance — the Service is a cultural-research platform, NOT a religious practice, spiritual authority, or faith organization. The Service does not substitute for clergy, spiritual directors, or any religious body.
• Inherent limitations of AI — AI may produce factual errors (hallucinations), misquote classical texts, or generate logically inconsistent interpretations. All outputs should be cross-verified. We do NOT warrant accuracy.
• Training-data bias — AI output may reflect biases in the training data, including historical and cultural biases. We do not endorse such biases.
• Interpretive ambiguity — traditional Chinese metaphysics has no single "correct" interpretation; different schools disagree. Our output represents ONE common-sense synthesis and is not the only valid view.

Any decision you make in reliance on the Service is entirely your own responsibility. We bear no direct or indirect liability for any outcome. The Service follows a "speak of good, not of ill" policy and does NOT produce specific predictions of death, serious illness, or irreversible misfortune; it also does NOT produce interpretations about politicians, sitting or former heads of state, or public figures. Such outputs are hard-blocked at the AI prompt layer.

3. Subscriptions & Payment

• Monthly plan: USD $12.99/month. Auto-renews. Cancelable at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• Annual plan: USD $99.99/year. Auto-renews. Cancelable at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• One-off AI readings: Overview $3.99 / Topic $6.99 / 3-Q&A pack $9.99. Subscribers pay member prices.
• E-book: USD $99.99 one-time, perpetual access, independent of subscriptions.
• All prices are in US dollars and exclusive of tax. Sales tax or consumption tax will be added where required by your jurisdiction.
• Payments are processed by Stripe; completing a purchase authorizes recurring billing for subscription plans.
• Before subscribing, you are clearly shown the auto-renewal terms, the billing cycle, and how to cancel; completing payment constitutes your explicit consent to auto-renewal.

4. Refund Policy

All digital goods on the Service (subscriptions, single-use AI readings, 3-Q&A packs, and the e-book) are final-sale and non-refundable, with no exceptions. You may cancel a subscription at any time to stop the next automatic renewal; the current period is not refunded, and purchased AI credits — whether or not used — cannot be exchanged for cash and are non-refundable.

The Company may, entirely at its own discretion and without obligation, issue goodwill refunds in unusual cases (for example, a Company-caused service outage exceeding 7 consecutive days). You have no enforceable right to a refund, and the Company reserves complete freedom to decide whether and how to respond on a case-by-case basis. 5. Account Terms

• You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
• Each account is for a single natural person; account sharing and resale are prohibited.
• You may not use the Service to make decisions on behalf of others — including, without limitation, professional fortune-tellers charging clients for readings produced via the Service.
• You are responsible for the security of your email account. We are not liable for losses resulting from your failure to safeguard it.

6. Prohibited Conduct

• Circumventing rate limits, automated content scraping, reverse-engineering, or unauthorized API calls.
• Using the Service to predict the fate of politicians or to produce political commentary.
• Posting defamatory, unlawful, infringing, obscene, or otherwise illegal content.
• Attempting to bypass payment flows or paywall enforcement.
• Automated abuse of AI calls to exhaust free quotas or other users' subscription allowances.
• Any attack, fraud, or harassment directed at the Service or its users.

7. Intellectual Property

• Classical source texts (Zhouyi, Di Tian Sui, Yuan Hai Zi Ping, etc.) are in the public domain.
• Modern annotations, AI prompt design, code, UI, and educational text provided by us are the copyright of Eaglewood Japan Co., Ltd.
• Chart data generated by users belongs to the users. The Company may, as permitted by law, use de-identified or anonymized data that is not used to identify any specific individual for statistical analysis, service optimization, and security risk control. The Company processes the relevant data in accordance with these Terms and the Privacy Policy, within the scope necessary to provide, maintain, improve, secure, and troubleshoot the Service, respond to requests, and fulfil legal obligations.
• You may not redistribute our content commercially without prior written consent.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "AS-IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without any warranty of any kind, express or implied — including, but not limited to, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, uninterrupted operation, error-free operation, or fitness of the content for any particular outcome. You understand and agree that you use the Service entirely at your own risk.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Eaglewood Japan Co., Ltd. disclaims any and all liability to you arising out of or relating to your use or inability to use the Service — including direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, and punitive damages (lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, loss of business opportunity, etc.), even if the Company has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Sole statutory exception: direct damages caused by the Company's willful misconduct or gross negligence. In that case, pursuant to the minimum non-waivable scope under Japan's Consumer Contract Act (消費者契約法) Article 8, the Company's aggregate liability shall not exceed the total amount you actually paid to the Company in the 12 months prior to the event giving rise to the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the full exclusion or limitation of implied warranties or liabilities. In those jurisdictions the limitations above apply only to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

9. Changes & Termination

• We may modify or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
• Material changes to pricing, plan structure, or feature scope will be notified to subscribers by email at least 14 days in advance.
• We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for breach of these Terms, as required by law or legal process, or for other reasonable cause.
• Termination does not relieve you of obligations already incurred. Data retention and deletion after termination are governed by the Privacy Policy.

10. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed under the laws of Japan. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Yokohama District Court (横浜地方裁判所) as the court of first instance.

11. Miscellaneous

• These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding use of the Service.
• If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
• Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver.
• You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our written consent.

12. Language

These Terms are published in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, and Japanese. All versions are intended to have the same meaning; in case of ambiguity, the Simplified Chinese version prevails.
